Why Dakty...?
The company name is derived from Daktyloskopy or Dactyloscopy. This comes from the Greek words "daktylos" meaning "finger" and "skopein" meaning "to examine". Traditionally the name of a science is derived from old Greek idioms. The science is known as “fingerprint identification”, which is the most important biometric method. It is used since 1877 for identification of persons and since 1891 in the criminal identification.

Compare the Latin word “digitus” with the Greek word “daktylos”. Both have the same meaning: finger. From “digitus” we have “digital” and from digital we get “digi”. Equivalent to “digi”, “dakty” is the short form of “daktylos”.
